Advocacy Work

Orion Turner has been actively involved in Advocacy work in the Emporia Community. In 2022, Orion founded the Emporia Pride Celebration (an expansion on the previous year's celebration.) This included Community Engagement, Parades, Drag Brunch, a Mainstage Drag Show, and the first Emporia Pride Live, a music festival devoted to Queer Music! These events were well attended with the Mainstage Drag Performance selling well over 600 Tickets. Orion is responsible for booking and organizing this series of events in Emporia Including Drag Shows, Brunches, Queer Comedy Hours, Parades and many more. Orion has also been a strong advocate for other local organizations and served as the Social Media Chair for Emporia Community Action.

Orion currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Emporia Pride Celebration in association with the Halfway to Everywhere Music Festival and Kansas Free for Arts.
